Author(s) of the Bible

I have discovered that I knew what Documentary Hypothesis was even though I didn't! It gives a pretty good explaination of a lot of the things I was already noticing in Genesis. -- The God as "we" thing, 2 different stories of creation, etc... Documentary Hypothesis would also explain the ever changing views of God in the Bible. Whichever view was popular at the time a section was written (whether political or otherwise) would be the view that was included in the writing. For more info. on E and J and all those other writers, I found two sites most helpful and easy to understand. Take a look site one or site two

Okay, I have no idea what I'm doing, but here I go anyway.-----

I was just wondering if anyone else picked up on the subtle references to polytheism in Genesis. I was constantly asking myself, "if God is only one person, why does He continually use the phrases 'we' and 'our'?" I'm thinking a little bit of the left-over beliefs are still in the Bible. Perhaps he's talking about the counsel of the gods that the mesopotamians believed in. There are, after all, a lot of alters being built all over the place, and those mesopotamians sure loved their alters. I think the polytheism makes it a much more interesting story. That and Lot offering his poor virgin daughters to an angry mob. Gods running around, rape and murder everywhere. I love this book. More later.
